Kid's Fishing Clinic
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources in partnership
with the Springfield Jaycees is proud to present their annual
Kids Fishing Clinic on June 7th.
The event will be held at Conservation World on the Illinois
State Fairgrounds. This project is a collaboration effort
with Free Fishing Days which is scheduled June
6th through June 8th.
Activities for the Fishing Clinic include:
An Urban Fishing Clinic which includes: fish identification,
fishing techniques, safety tips, and proper angler ethics
taught by Lake Springfield Catfish Tournament Director, Willy
Schrader. There will be various contests planned including
a casting contest conducted by FLW-TBF Casting Federation.
Prizes will be awarded for the various contests. A mid-morning
snack and drinks will be provided by Sunrise Café.
Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and the fishing clinic concludes
at noon. The clinic is open to all children between 2 and
12 years of age. We ask that you bring your own rod &
reel. There will be a limited amount of rod & reels available
for children who do not have their own equipment. All fishing
bait will be provided, as well as, on-site assistants who
will educate young children on how to properly bait their
hooks. Download
